L solo uses two fingers to type on his computer keyboard, but ten to transform materials. A member of BGL from 1996 to 2021, he learned the ropes of the artist's profession at the wheel of multiple horses. It is now at the wheel of fewer horses that he travels through the ever-changing meadows of contemporary art. In the summer of 2022, he designed two public interventions in Frelighsburg as part of a residency at Adélard.
I approach contemporary art as a place of freedom where intuition is the coach and the research in the studio is a joust in which the trial and error method is applied to generate inventiveness, astonishment and poetry. In the end, it is always dissatisfaction that prevails in these laboratories. But it is also this process that engenders the determination leading to contentment (like a score of seven out of ten), and sometimes even to euphoria (a score of nine out of ten); to exhibit is to share the best discoveries.
I love to collaborate and envisioning this five day residency as an experimental album recording with sound pros (in this case, printed images pros) brings a smile to my face. Given my unquestionable penchant for installation, I will take advantage of the stay to print prototypes of fake fridges that can reproduce the aisles of refrigerators like those one sees appliance retailers. I also hope to have time to try my hand at jewellery making by printing a variety of foods, then laminating them on sheet metal to create original uncomfortable and colourful necklaces. In 2018, I already produced a first jewellery piece like this. There is a good possibility that my second one will be titled Des salamis pour Sagamie.
