Jean-François Cooke is known for his work with the artist duo Cooke-Sasseville. His residency at Centre SAGAMIE will give him the opportunity to devote himself to solo research and thus represents a pivotal stage in his career. In this context, he will explore 3D modeling, photorealistic rendering and new narrative forms in a more introspective approach that blends his experience as a sculptor with a personal visual universe caught between reality and imagination.
Inspired by the potential of visual narrative in film, comics and iconography, Jean-François Cooke is interested in the multiple perspectives that a single scene can offer. By playing with framing, lighting and layout, he creates narratives in which each viewpoint provides a new reading, revealing surprising or inaccessible details. The unusual, sometimes disturbing scenes that emerge allow him to shape a singular, dreamlike universe, suspended in an indefinite temporality and space.
