Béatrice Boily is a visual artist whose practice is anchored in the exploration of organic matter. Her interests lie in ecology and the various processes of transformation that govern the material realm. The progressions of her ephemeral and site-specific interventions are revealed to the public in the form of photographs, projections and installations.
Boily holds an MFA from Université du Québec à Montréal (2020) with honours, and was awarded the Pierre-Ayot grant by Les fonds du centre de recherche en art Pierre Ayot (2017). Her work has been shown in Tio'tia:ke/Montréal at Galerie de l’UQAM, La Centrale galerie Powerhouse and GHAM & DAFE, as well as at Galerie Bécot (Québec), the Reford Gardens (Grand-Métis) and abroad, during the Bienale Giovani Monza (Monza, Italy). She will be presenting a solo show, curated by Ariel Rondeau, at Regart, centre d’artistes en art actuel(Nionwentsïo/Lévis) in 2023. Works of hers can be found in several private collections in Québec and in Italy.
Béatrice Boily currently lives in Tio'tia:ke/Montréal and works on the non-ceded land of the Kanien'kehá:ka, Omàmìwininìwag and Huron-Wendat Nations.
Aires de création project
Béatrice Boily's exhibition at Regart, centre d'artistes en art actuel : May 5 to June 4, 2023
Aires de Création project allows artists to carry out a research/creation residency at Centre SAGAMIE prior to the distribution of their work in one of the project's partner exhibition centers:
- ARPRIM centre d'essai en art imprimé (Montreal)
- Centre d'art Jacques et Michel Auger (Victoriaville)
- Centre national d’exposition (Jonquière)
- Galerie L'Œuvre de l'Autre (Saguenay)
- Regart, centre d'artistes en art actuel (Lévis)
- Langage Plus (Alma)
Initiated by Centre SAGAMIE, this program favours the implementation of a chain of collaboration between the centers, in order to support and disseminate the artists' projects. This project is made possible thanks to the contribution of each partner artist-run centre and the financial support of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean Territorial Partnership Program under the Partnership Agreement between the CALQ and the MRCs of the region.
