Alex Pouliot (b. 1992, Québec City) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Tio’tia:ke/Mooniyang (Montréal). His practice explores the processes of representation and archiving of feelings through the narrative of the self. Based on his experience of the world, his work takes shape from pre-existing forms and content gathered from his own archives, memories and dreams. Within his works, the source materials he utilizes (images, recordings, found objects, texts, feelings…) find themselves altered and (re)materialized across various printed, sculptural, installative, and performative strategies. His research is generally created in relation to site-specific contexts or as a means of self-healing, driven by conflicting desires. By the intimate nature of the work he shares, he aims to offer reflective spaces of vulnerability and exchange for and/with the public.

His work has been presented in the context of exhibitions and festivals, including at l’Écart, Fonderie Darling, la Place des Arts, Galerie de l’UQAM and Maison des étudiants Canadiens (Paris). He is the author of the poetry collection Doucement les corps (2019) published by Les Éditions du Mur. Alongside artist Andy Maple, he cofounded Pièce jointe (2020), a non-profit organization and publishing house dedicated to the dissemination of artists' research in contemporary art, for which he works as an editor ever since. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual and Media Arts from UQAM (2020) and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Studio Arts (MFA) within the Sculpture’s department at Concordia University.
