The poem chairs in the Palais-Royal garden
A collective look back at Quebec sculptor Michel Goulet's chaises-poèmes, ten "poetic loveseats" installed in the Palais-Royal garden in Paris, echoing the traditional chairs of Parisian gardens in the last century, with contributions from nearly 70 authors, visual artists, poets, critics, theorists, philosophers and thinkers. Two years after the inauguration of the poem-chairs in the garden of the Palais-Royal, 70 authors from all over the world have written comments, reflections, thoughts, poems and memories about this unifying project in this picture book. Visual artists, poets, playwrights, theater directors, philosophers, psychoanalysts, sociologists, art critics and historians, academics, as well as committed administrators, inscribe a part of themselves among the images of this work and its garden dedicated to encounter, exchange and poetry. Michel Goulet and François Massut were responsible for its creation and realization, placing public art on a human scale and poetry at the heart of one of Paris's most beautiful gardens. Today and forever, regular visitors and the simply curious can discover Les confidents, read poetic fragments, listen to poems and use the artistic object to sit down.
