Some topographies of creation
In this essay, the author explores the works of the six artists of the Transfert en cours project, conducted by the Centre SAGAMIE during a collective residency and exhibitions. She engages in reflections on the act of creation in the infinity of practices.
[In these shared spaces, we inhabit the world with its precarious, unstable and transient contingencies. I started to collect the fragments and volatile apparitions of the studio a few years ago. I am building the archive of a work yet to come. Being lost. I still probe to the back of the objects. And I stretch out very far at once. Quickly, in this process that is as much about scaffolding as it is about surveying, I became interested not in the singularity of practices but rather in their diversity and in the attachment of creators to their environments.
At a time when our current world tends to convince us that everything is finitudes rather than open and plural potentialities, I seek to identify the role of creation at the turning point of the times and the dominant common narratives. Hence the numerous dialogues evoked with artists and their current works, the different genres practised and the wide range of references used to construct this sensitive journey.
I cross writing and time - theoretical, poetic, philosophical writings, fragments of creative journals and memories that sensation has imprinted on us - questioning our creative spaces and our habits of looking at reality. I hope to open up another level of being in writing about creation, in which the author's individuality is not erased but amplified by the communities, artists and works she rubs shoulders with, discovers and surveys... Speaking to the "I" and suddenly wanting to speak to the "We".
