Both fascinated and frightened by the way humans play the sorcerer's apprentice by intervening in nature, Loïc Chauvin's projects encapsulate contradictory emotions, materializing through sculptures, photographs, interventions, and installations. Resolutely in situ, his projects are rooted in specific ecological environments, where he collaborates with people, the territory, the seasons, the living, and the climate. The poetic idea at the core of each project is juxtaposed with the contingencies of its execution. Through absurdist humor, his projects provide gateways to explore themes of control, fallibility, extractivism, and human hubris.

Loïc Chauvin is a multidisciplinary artist living in Montreal. A graduate of Concordia University in photography (2019), he is currently pursuing an MFA in sculpture and ceramics (2025). His projects have been presented in various group shows, including Plein Sud Art Actuel in Longueuil (2024), at Caravansérail artist-run center in Rimouski (2022), at the fifth edition of ARTCH in Montreal (2022) and the Alte Handelschule in Leipzig, Germany (2020). His work has been supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts.
