Charlotte Guirestante Ghomeshi is a visual artist who grew up in Saint-Sauveur. Based in Montreal since 2012, she obtained a BFA in photography from Concordia University (2020).
Her work takes shape through photography and video. Drawing inspiration from her personal experiences, she addresses issues pertaining to the relationship between humans and their environment. However, her recent work focuses more specifically on a search for identity in relation to her Quebec, Iranian and Italian origins. Applying something akin to a therapeutic process, she develops her works around introspective research to address broader issues.
Her work has been exhibited in various group shows in Montreal. In the winter of 2022, she presented her first solo exhibition at the Centre d'artiste Caravansérail in Rimouski. In May 2023, she will participate in the Casa Lü residency in Mexico. She is also the founder and curator of the Tabloid project, a public art initiative that promotes accessibility to art by presenting photographic works in urban space.
Charlotte Guirestante Ghomeshi's works will be part of the exhibition Regards situés which will open on April 27 at 5:00 pm at Centre SAGAMIE.
The exhibition Regards Situés, successively presented at the Centre Skol in Montreal and at the Centre SAGAMIE in Alma, is part of the Inter-Centres/art actuel, circulation et mobilité program, initiated by the Centre SAGAMIE for the visual arts.
This program is supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) in order to encourage and support the circulation of works and artists on the Quebec territory through structuring initiatives such as Centre SAGAMIE's Inter-Centres/art actuel program.
